Sometimes music can send you the most conflicting messages. Take now for instance. I’m trying really hard to concentrate on looking forward first, and backwards second, and forgetting about certain things in my past. So far it’s been going okay btw.
However, then I listen to some random songs from my music collection (which is a bit thin right now, since the death of my old hard drive also murdered my carefully constructed music collection) and half of those songs are like: Don’t forget what’s in your past! Go back and find out where it can take you!
The other half is like: Oh come on, what’s in the past is in the past etc. You should really focus on yourself right now!
So now the question is, which songs will I need to keep listening to…

The past few weeks of my life sort of had a soundtrack. What with all the exams I had and other things that were going on in my life. (I realise this list is mostly Jordin Sparks. What can I say, her music just really appealed to me over the past few weeks, and I tend to go through phases
)
All American Rejects – Breakin’
Figuring something out on the day of my English exam with the aid of this song might not be the smartest thing I’ve ever done. It certainly distracted me from the exam quite nicely and turned me into a quasi-stalker. Eventually though, I did catch the guy I liked alone, and asked him out to the movies.
Ludwig Van Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata
This was the perfect song to cycle home in the middle of the night, after I’d just been to the movies and things didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted them to, mainly because I was too chicken to do anything about it.
Jordin Sparks – One Step At A Time
And then I realised that perhaps I should try again, and spent an entire Sunday being anxious about calling him. Until I finally plucked up the nerve and did it anyway.
Antonio Vivaldi – Spring (The Four Seasons) and Pussycat Dolls – Jai Ho
Getting something difficult like calling the guy I liked of my chest made me smile uncontrollably, and these two song really helped with all the ‘happy’ I was suddenly feeling.
Jordin Sparks – Next To You
Since I really didn’t know how the guy felt about me, and still don’t really, I decided to try to find out. Jordin Sparks may have thought it was a suitable suggestion, but it really didn’t work. I got next to him, and I was still chicken. Finding out at the end of the day that perhaps it was just all my imagination didn’t really help either.
Jordin Sparks – This Is My Now
After that day I decided to give up, and focus on me instead. So I became quite grumpy waiting for my exam results. They turned out all right in the end, I graduated after all, and after receiving the letter I decided to just let go. To not focus on what perhaps could have been between us had I not been too chicken, but instead focus on all the new things waiting for me!

Because we are a small country, not much of our music gets outside of Europe, or even outside of Holland. Which is a shame really, because we have some really good artists. Until I run out I’m going to tell you about three every time I feel like it (in other words, when I have nothing better to do or to blog about
).
Dennis
Taken from her website:
From raving party girl to rising pop star – Dennis is one of a new and talented breed of edgy young singers. She has a very promising career ahead of her, so remember her name!
Personally I just like her because she can sing beautifully, and most of her songs are very upbeat and summery. Something I always like
.
Song I like best: Own Little Bubble.
Anouk
Very talented singer. She makes all kinds of different songs, but I think she’s best at songs that are a bit faster. Even though her ballads are really beautiful, it seems as if they get whinier the more I hear them.
Songs I like best: Modern World and Jerusalem.
Ilse de Lange
She has a beautiful voice and sings beautiful songs. She is great at both ballads and more upbeat songs and is just an alround great singer.
Songs I like the most: (these are all live performance videos) Flying Blind, I’m Not So Tough and The Great Escape
