This question was put to bloggers by Ann, on her blog. On an entry that had the same title. Because it’s difficult for me to decide what I should otherwise blog about, I decided to answer her question.

I suppose I still blog just to be present online. The internet knows I don’t really update all that much. Before it was since I didn’t really get out much, due to being at home for 4,5 months. These days it more because I’m not really sure what is interesting to blog about, and because I’m not sure what I’m allowed to blog about, since I had to sign a confidentiality agreement.  (We’re not allowed to crack jokes in the dissection room, so I have to wonder whether we’re allowed to blog about it too..)

Coming back to the online presence however, it really is the main presence I still hang about and blog occasionally. I don’t really like it when I read comments on blogs and there’s no possibility to find out what the commenter’s like. Therefore, I still maintain my blog, and an about page.

I’ve also been toying with some ideas to make me blog more, and I’d like your opinion on them. Would you be more interested in reading:
- An entry about a question asked by someone about me every week?
- A new part of a story written by me every week?
- Or entries like I’ve been doing all this time?

I’d be interested to hear what your opinions are about all these things. Feel free to shoot them down too if you don’t like them, and of course feel free to make suggestions. Anything is welcome :)

Sometimes music can send you the most conflicting messages. Take now for instance. I’m trying really hard to concentrate on looking forward first, and backwards second, and forgetting about certain things in my past. So far it’s been going okay btw.

However, then I listen to some random songs from my music collection (which is a bit thin right now, since the death of my old hard drive also murdered my carefully constructed music collection) and half of those songs are like: Don’t forget what’s in your past! Go back and find out where it can take you!
The other half is like: Oh come on, what’s in the past is in the past etc. You should really focus on yourself right now!

So now the question is, which songs will I need to keep listening to…

I’m so happy right now! I haven’t been this happy in a long time. This happiness was caused by three things:

  1. Graduating! :D I’ve now officially graduated and it was so much fun! People were called forward in groups, and the group I was in was talked to by my amazing physics teacher. She said a LOT of nice things about me, and it just goes to show how well all the teachers know me, and I really appreciate that.
I’m also officially done with the stupid yearbook as it was handed out today, and I got a lot of compliments about it! :D
  2. Driving! My grandparents gave me an awesome graduation gift, I get to take driving lesson, and they are going to pay for them! I’ll probably be starting in September, since I believe you have to be 18 to start, though I’m going to find out if it’s possible for me to start sooner.
  3. This is probably the biggest reason I’m happy right now: Medical school. Remember I went to a selection day, which was the second round of the selection process? Well, based on the scores of the different things you did you were put on a list. On that list the person with the highest score is ranked number 1, and the person with the score after that number 2 etc. The higher up on the list you are the bigger the chances of getting in.
I’m number 8!!!!! Edit: 28-06-2009 (Oops.. I posted the wrong number before.. A friend of mine is actually number 7) There are 300 people on the list btw. :D

So yeah, today was a really, really, really good day! :D

I love the house I live in. My parents have lived here for around 20 years if I remember correctly, and I have lived here all my life. It shows in the house, for it has gotten a rather lived in feel, with all our books and non-matched furniture about the place.

It also shows in the way my parents interact with the people on our block. Most of them have been here for as long as I can remember, and only recently did some houses come on the market, and were sold to new owners.

Whilst new blood may very well be interesting, I have come to find these new families to be slightly irritating. They are easy to get along with for the most part, but they have some annoying habits.

One of the habits they all seem to share, is DIY. Which is great, I’m all for home improvement, adding value and all that jazz… It’s just that after having to listen to constant hammering and drilling and sawing (some of which can go on till 10.00 in the evening) you become rather infuriated with it. Since I live in a terraced house that is rather susceptible to noise coming from the other houses (it’s the way the houses were built), it’s almost as if all the hammering and drilling and sawing is taking place in your own house.

Another habit that gets on my nerves is the fires they start. Apparently it is a lot more fun the bun garden waste instead of driving it to a composting facility. The problem is that this burning can only occur in dry weather, and dry weather is usually only available when the wind comes from the east, and is therefore aimed directly at my window, causing the smell of burning wood to linger in my room. >.<

I’m not entirely sure I can chalk the next annoyance up to the new  neighbours, but since it has only started recently I will mention it anyway: one of the families living in one of the houses closest to me has purchased what I believe to be a bread maker. It’s great that people are making their own bread, but it seems that they turn it on in the middle of the night, and since for some strange reason my hearing has become much more sensitive lately, I can actually hear it kneading the dough. This is an annoyance mainly because I’m not sure it’s a bread maker, and I don’t like unidentified noises. Especially not ones that keep me awake.

For the time being I’ll learn to deal with all of these things though. I take comfort in the knowledge that there’s only so much that can be improved with these houses, and that the DIY will soon stop hopefully, in the knowledge that there is only so much garden waste to burn before there’s nothing left of your garden, and in the knowledge that in a few weeks I’ll be on holiday in Germany, and I won’t have to deal with that particular unidentified sound any more!

Ever since I got this laptop I’ve been using an optical mini-mouse. I like it better than a normal sized mouse, and it’s handier to carry around :) .
My first mini-mouse broke down a few months after I first got it.

My second mini-mouse broke down a few weeks back. Luckily my dad had a back up one that I could use for a while. Ever since then I’ve been looking for the same model. However, I have not been very lucky in that department.

Today though, after schlepping halfway across the city I found something resembling the model I had. :) It is different in one very interesting way though. It lights up.

Yup, it lights up. If you have the light turned on, it will change into seven different colours, one colour gently fading into the next closest one. It’s very pretty, but can be a bit annoying. xD

Oh well, I’m just happy I have a mouse of my own again!

Here are the pictures of my prom that I promised you guys! :) I will warn you though, I do not photograph well when I need to pose, and as such the picture of me in my dress might not look as great as I felt in it. I got a lot of compliments about it as well :D .

This is the dancefloor at the dance part of the prom. It was pretty crowded but I had a lot of fun dancing. It was also where I got doused in beer. Twice. :P

Yesterday I had the worst luck I have ever had in all my time of travelling with public transport. It was even worse than the time I missed the first bus I wanted to take and the one I wanted to take instead of the one I missed didn’t show up, as did the one I wanted to take to replace the second one.

So what happened? Well, I haven’t been to the city centre in quite a while, since I was on study break for my exams. Turns out they have been doing some work at several bus stops. After my bio exam I walk to the bus stop, very confident that I’ll be able to catch the bus on time, and when I get there the bus stop has been moved, and I don’t know where, because I can’t read the sign.
So I walk to my second choice bus stop. I always never take the bus from there because it’s on the other end of the city centre, and I’m not a fan of walking. Nearby is a book store and since I have some time to kill before the bus comes I wander in there. When I do eventually get to the bus stop there’s no one there. Very suspicious, so I look at the bus stop sign, and it turns out this one is also moved. This time I can read the sign, and it turns out I have to walk even further.

When I do eventually get on a bus and make it home, I’m home and hour later than I would have liked… >.<

And then there’s the icing on the cake: When I get home my sister is all: ,,Oh didn’t you know that the bus is rerouted to stop directly in front of the school?”

AAAARRGH.

It has been over a year now since I was in Rome with school but there is one thing I will never forget: the ice cream.

It’s no secret that the Italians make the most amazing ice cream in the world, what is a secret however, is the size of the scoops. They are HUGE. They don’t use a normal scooping device, they use a triangular flat knife of sorts to scoop the ice into the cone, creating a enormous mound of ice on top of the cone.

There is an Italian ice cream shop in town, and since I got money from my grandfather to buy ice cream, I went there.
Too bad the ice cream was nothing like the ice cream I got in Rome. Sure, it was tasty enough, but the scoops were very disappointing.

Tiny wasn’t exactly what I was was hoping for, especially since the previous times I bought ice cream there the scoops were bigger.
This episode has taught me two things:
The first is that size really does matter. (At least in ice cream xD), and the second is that apparently the credit crunch affects ice cream too. :P

We’ve had completely amazing weather for the past week or so. Everybody loves it.

I really like the change as well, we haven’t had rain in a while, and it’s been warm for a change :D . The weather does mean that my room gets really, really warm in the morning, making it unable for me to sleep in :( .

My cat is also not particularly keen on the weather. She usually gains a lot of weight in winter, and she hasn’t completely lost all of it yet. So the first day we had nice weather and it went from 10 degrees C to 22 degrees C over night, my cat pretty much relaxed in the shade all day.

Today was my Last School Day (this will henceforth be referred to as LSD, which I know is also a drug, but it’s not in this context). The last school day is traditionally the day before the sixth years go on the studybreak before their final exams.

In my school the sixth years appoint a commitee who deals with the ‘stunt’ we pull. They went with a circus theme, and we had an amazing day! :D

We had a huge blow up slide, which we covered in soapy water, and then had to run up. Hilarity ensued! xD

Unfortunately this is where the bad part comes in :( . To keep the slide soapy and wet we had to run back and forth with buckets of water. A few of the first years had it in for me and dumped a HUGE bucket of water over me, and since I had no dry clothes with me, I walked around in them all day.

Although the sun was shining, it apparently wasn’t good for me, because now my throat is sore, and my muscles ache. >.< Hopefully this will pass witha good night’s sleep, but at least I will remember this day forever! ;)
