As well as studying, in my study break (3 weeks left) I will have to do some major editing for my yearbook. Two of my fellow editors came today and did a lot of work on it, but because we couldn’t figure out how to change the page size in Adobe Indesign I will have to do it all again.
So far I have found out that I really hate it when people send stuff in in a format that I can’t open. Or a format that we specifically asked them not to, like .bmp for photos, and pictures in word documents >.<.
Having people e-mail you that they will send in the picture they want in the yearbook in a couple of days, and then three months later it still isn’t here is also a huge pet peeve of mine. Well, it wasn’t before, but it is now. xD
I am really hoping that this programs will actually listen to me, and do stuff when I want it to do stuff, and not blow up in my face. Really, that’s all I ask for.
Now I have to go get some sleep, yearbooks are exhausting.

Oh the early morning phone calls from a very worried grandparent. My grandfather has had a computer for as long as I can remember now, but sometimes he still doesn’t know what to do with it. To be fair he doesn’t use it the way my family does and so he does not posses the knowledge all of us do; because of this we have turned into his personal tech support, something none of us mind, really.
So when he called this morning at about ten I wasn’t in the least bit surprised when he, after asking for my father first, proceeded to bombard me with questions. When I could decipher what he was saying, it turned out that he had opened up internet explorer and had found google without the usual google logo. Instead he saw morse code. It took him a while to get through my still sleepy skull what Morse code was exactly (I’m not the brightest when I wake up).
After all of this we could finally start assessing the problem. He had ‘lost’ his address bar, and couldn’t navigate anywhere. My first thought was that he perhaps has pulled the window larger than the screen, and in the process had made the address bar disappear at the top of the screen, but that turned out not to be the case.
About thirty seconds later it occured to me that he may have pressed F11, which it turned out he did.
This entire problem could have been solved much better had he not worried about a virus and had just told me what he was seeing at the time. The lack of the bar thingy at the bottom would have given me a clue as to what was happening sooner. In any case the problem was resolved: my grandfather didn’t have a virus and was very relieved, and I now have the option to buy an ice-cream and have my grandfather pay for it.

A couple of weeks ago I promised my physics teacher I would help her promote the Project Modern Physics on a physics event. I thought I would be a lot of fun, and it turned out it was!
The day started of a bit weird thoug. My sister had a German exchange student over, and my sister used my bike to cycle to the city, the German exchange student used my sister’s bike. They wanted to go out last night, and my parents let them. At 2.00 they were picked up by the mother of one of my sister’s friends, she was supposed to take both bikes as well.
At 2.00 my parents get a call from my distraught sister: my bike didn’t fit on the bicycle rack. They talked about the options and decided it would be best to leave my bike in the city.
So this morning started with me and my mother ‘chasing’ a bus.
It was rather stressful. I was cycling to the bus stop with my mum on the bike too, and we saw two buses pass in the distance. Fortunately they weren’t the one I wanted to take. In the end I did end up on my bus, even though it was completely full.
(I hate, hate, hate public transport).
I made it to the event in once piece, and I had a blast. It wasn’t so much the physics, there wasn’t very much of it, but it was the people. They were so interesting. So passionate about what they were doing, and the research they’d done. I had very interesting conversations today, as well as a bit of flirting.
There was a stand with all kinds of experiments with liquid nitrogen and ferrofluid amongst other things, and there were three cute second year students. So I flirted a bit whilst they explained them all to me.
The best thing about the whole thing though, was the fact that all the people there thought I was either a student looking for a masters degree or a teacher.
I guess I look really mature xD.

We’ve had completely amazing weather for the past week or so. Everybody loves it.
I really like the change as well, we haven’t had rain in a while, and it’s been warm for a change
. The weather does mean that my room gets really, really warm in the morning, making it unable for me to sleep in
.
My cat is also not particularly keen on the weather. She usually gains a lot of weight in winter, and she hasn’t completely lost all of it yet. So the first day we had nice weather and it went from 10 degrees C to 22 degrees C over night, my cat pretty much relaxed in the shade all day.

It is weird the things that pass you by when you are incredibly busy. You know, when you are doing schoolwork, and are completely absorbed in whatever is most important at the time.
The same happened to me in December 2007. I was busy preparing for the test week scheduled for after the Christmas holidays, and had stuff to sort out for Sinterklaas.
What completely passed me by was the ending of ‘the trial of the century’. In December 2007 Willem Holleeder was convincted, and put away for nine years. The trial had been very eventful and had started in April. Over the course of the trial there was a bombing, and Holleeder fell ill.
Something like all of that wouldn’t be too hard to miss you’d think. It completely passed me by, and I was only reminded of the existance of Holleeder the other day, when one of my best friends said: ,,What actually happened to Holleeder?”
To which both myself, and another friend responded: ,,I don’t know.”

I have concluded something important today: my brother can be a massive jerk. I already knew my sister could be completely insensitive, but for some reason I did not expect my brother to be so too.
You see, I fell off a horse again today. Which hurts, whatever other people say, falling off of horses whose back (the one you sit on when you ride) is almost as high up from the ground as the top of your head when standing up, does hurt like a bitch.
So, when I come home, obviously troubled with walking, because, you know, I did fall on my hip, which is the hinge of the whole walking construction, I really don’t appreciate to be met with a remark that basically says: oh, suck it up.
Because even though my brother thinks it may be the same, getting a field hockey ball to the back of your leg does not equate to falling of a 1.60 m horse in mid canter.

Today was my Last School Day (this will henceforth be referred to as LSD, which I know is also a drug, but it’s not in this context). The last school day is traditionally the day before the sixth years go on the studybreak before their final exams.
In my school the sixth years appoint a commitee who deals with the ‘stunt’ we pull. They went with a circus theme, and we had an amazing day!
We had a huge blow up slide, which we covered in soapy water, and then had to run up. Hilarity ensued! xD
Unfortunately this is where the bad part comes in
. To keep the slide soapy and wet we had to run back and forth with buckets of water. A few of the first years had it in for me and dumped a HUGE bucket of water over me, and since I had no dry clothes with me, I walked around in them all day.
Although the sun was shining, it apparently wasn’t good for me, because now my throat is sore, and my muscles ache. >.< Hopefully this will pass witha good night’s sleep, but at least I will remember this day forever!

With school ending this week, and no more real homework, apart from preparing for my final exams at the end of May and the beginning of June, I have been a bit bored.
To remedy this boredom I have been reading some stories online, only I seem to have run out of the good ones. So I need help. Please help me find some stories that are a nice read, and have A LOT of chapters I can get lost in.
(I know that alternatively I could try books, but for some reason I have become a very snobby reader and don’t enjoy most of the things I get out the library any more
)
What I like:
-Romance
I am a seventeen year old girl, so this should say enough.
-Fantasy, but realism is also nice
That’s it really, what I really want is a nice romance story
To be honest, what I would also like is a webcomic with a lot of archives

I have been good today
Not only did I do all the stuff I needed to for my school’s yearbook, but I also cycled 5 km out of my way to ask a teacher if they wanted one.
We are currently in the process of finalizing our finances, and as a part of that we need to know how many yearbooks we need to order. The teacher in question was on the athletic field for PE, which is located approximately 2,5 km outside the city center, where my school is.
I didn’t mind the extra kilometres, because it was a gorgeous day today, and I felt really good about the extra cycling. So good in fact that I took an extra helping of chips at dinner tonight.
It probably completely cancels out the cycling, but who cares? I do enough of it xD

Lately I can’t seem to find stuff anywhere. I suppose this is a detriment to my organisational skills: I put stuff away so logically when I clean that when I’m not thinking logically I can’t find it. My pessimistic side concludes that I can’t find stuff because I don’t organise well.
Regardless of which of the two might be right, it’s still extremely annoying. Not being able to find stuff results either in having to buy new, or making a mess of your room in the process of locating whatever is missing.
Sometimes it would be extremely handy if life had a search function.
