As I was cycling to the store this afternoon I encountered some kids playing on the road.

(I really like the fact that I live in the kind of place where kids can actually do that without getting run over)

Anyway, they were happily playing away with some balls, some were throwing them, some were playing football (or soccer, as the Americans say), when I came towards them I thought they were being polite by going out of my way. (After all they were playing in the road, and I believe a bicycle’s still privileged over a bunch of kids)

Except they weren’t. Yes, two of them disappeared onto the parking spaces with their ball, but they emerged seconds later, right in front of my bike.
And I said: ‘Out of my way. This is a street after all!’ They just looked at me, and went: ‘Nahnahnahnah’.

Even though I was completely within my rights to make them go out of my way, I still feel I crossed a line. I’d have been so pissed had a grown up said something like that to me.

I can’t believe I’m actually that person.

I miss playing in the street and moving whenever a car comes. Someone would shout out “CAR!” and we’d all move :P

I can’t visualize how you were unable to get past a few kids with your bicycle, though :/

    Dude, what the fuck. :|

The title for this is really fitting.

You should feel bad, they were in your way, they just did it because you were on a bike they wouldn’t have done that if you were driving a car.
